Emirates News Agency – Aldar and Diamond developers launch sustainable city – Yas Island

ABU DHABI, 6th January, 2023 (WAM) — Aldar Properties (‘Aldar’), in partnership with Diamond Developers, has launched Sustainable City – Yas Island, a sustainability-focused community for Abu Dhabi. Dhabi’s residents offer a new way of life.

Built on the strengths of sustainable urban Dubai, this family-friendly development is a walkable neighborhood surrounded by open green spaces, leisurely sidewalks and community farmland.

The project is supported by a central green spine that runs through the entire neighborhood, including parks, lakes, and bio gardens, where vegetables will be grown and distributed throughout the neighborhood. With a strong focus on creating an active community, Yas Island Sustainable City will also feature a range of public facilities and amenities, including an equestrian center with stables, a running track and two arenas, a gym and multiple swimming pools, cycling and jogging tracks , football, basketball and cricket pitches, retail and F&B outlets, nursery, autism center and a green and sustainable mosque.

Within the low-emissions community, a network of public battery-charging strollers and bicycles will be provided so residents and visitors can move around while their cars remain parked on the outer fringes of the development. The neighborhood’s design philosophy focuses on improving walkability and accessibility at all levels.

Sustainable City – Yas Island is open to buyers of all nationalities, with apartments and townhouses spread across 10 intimate clusters. In the first phase of the project, 272 apartments and 240 townhouses will go on sale to the public on January 19.

Additionally, efficient water systems, sustainable technologies, community design principles, and recycling facilities within the community will help reduce carbon emissions, water consumption, energy use, and waste.

Sustainable Cities – Yas Island, announced during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in January 2022, is the product of a joint venture with Diamond Developers, the mastermind behind the Sustainable Cities brand. Construction on the project will begin in the second quarter of 2023, with the first handover expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.
