New Jersey [US]9th January (ANI): Union Commerce Secretary Piyush Goyal, currently in the US, has highlighted India’s story, PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, and urged The Indian diaspora expands India’s influence in global markets.

At Edison, Goyal spoke of PM Modi’s management style, citing his ambitious vision, bold policies and careful oversight. He expresses his admiration for how the US benefits from Indian talent.

In an interaction with the Indian community, Goyal, who is on a four-day tour in New York, New Jersey and Washington, highlighted the administration’s efforts to win an influential and prosperous part of U.S. economic life and push them to invest in their motherland. The minister expressed the desire to have people of Indian descent to tell the story of India’s development.

Addressing the Indian diaspora, Goyal said, “I invite you to help us shape the contours of a new India, a strong India and one that will lead global growth and one that is destined to become ‘Vishwaguru’.”

“As we assume the G20 presidency this year, we are showing the world what we can do and what we can contribute over the next 25 years,” Goyal added.

“In Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, we not only reflect on our achievements and glory, but also focus on the ideas of this Kaal, and I will make sure that each of you contributes to these ideas and efforts. Much will be gained from you, your families and There is a huge opportunity (to prosper in India) for businesses,” Goyal said.

He added that India and the US are natural partners with trade complementarities, long-term strategic and economic ties and strong people-to-people ties. The Union minister noted that both are vibrant democracies.

“The United States and India are both vibrant democracies. We both have very strong ties and bonds of friendship, very strong geopolitical ties, and great commercial and trade interests in the economic well-being of both countries,” Goyal added.

Praising India’s economy and how it bounced back after the Covid lockdown, Goyal said 2022 would be a record year for trade, with India’s exports growing to $670 billion.

Goyal is in the US with US Trade Representative Katherine Tai for the 13th ministerial meeting of the Trade Policy Forum (TPF), a major bilateral trade mechanism. The top Indian official is also scheduled to meet with US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

TPF is the premier forum for resolving trade and investment issues between India and the United States. TPF was established in July 2005 to discuss trade and investment issues.

The objectives of the forum are to facilitate trade and investment flows between the two countries, formulate and implement trade policies through a transparent process consistent with international obligations, create an environment conducive to technological cooperation and innovation, promote inclusive economic growth and job creation in India and United States.

The Federal Secretary of Commerce and Industry and the U.S. Trade Representative are co-chairs of the Trade Policy Forum.

After four years, the 12th TPF Ministerial Conference will be held in New Delhi on November 23, 2021.

As well as reaching out to the diaspora, the federal minister will meet business leaders in New York and Washington.

A statement released by the Ministry of Commerce said the forum is “a platform for the two countries to continue to engage in the field of trade and to promote bilateral trade and investment relations.”

The two countries are also cooperating under QUAD, I2U2 (India-Israel/UAE-US) and IPEF (Indo-Pacific Economic Framework). Regular leadership exchanges are an integral part of expanding bilateral engagement.

The outcomes of these visits have helped to further strengthen the multifaceted relationship between the two countries. (Arnie)
