BU DHABI, 11th January, 2023 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Global Market, ADGM, has published the ADGM Healthcare Regulations 2022, which adopt healthcare legislation in Abu Dhabi, including regulations for healthcare operators , rules, standards, guidelines and circulars issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) and professionals included in the legislative framework of ADGM.
As a result of this adoption, ADGM’s Registry reserves the right to issue commercial licenses to medical institutions operating within the ADGM’s jurisdiction.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health will be responsible for all regulatory obligations, including classification, supervision, monitoring and enforcement of obligations related to these medical institutions and professionals.
The new healthcare regulations are designed to ensure that all entities incorporated and licensed in ADGM to carry on any business or activity – healthcare, medical treatment, disease prevention, rehabilitation, medical products, health insurance, health education and information, outpatient treatment, health and Pharmaceutical research conducted by companies, hospitals, clinics, treatment centers, research centres, pharmacies, laboratories (whether public or private) and others operating in the public or private healthcare sector – subject to the onshore requirements set by the Ministry of Health.
Commenting on the new healthcare regulations, Hamad Sayah Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive Officer of ADGM Registration Authority, said: “ADGM has been keen to enhance mutual strategic cooperation and institutional integration among Abu Dhabi government agencies to achieve Abu Dhabi’s 2030 economy. vision.
“In the process, ADGM signed a cooperation and authorization agreement with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health to benefit from their experience in regulating and monitoring health, medical and pharmaceutical entities operating within ADGM’s jurisdiction.”
“The adoption of Abu Dhabi’s onshore healthcare legislation in ADGM provides comfort and assurance to healthcare, medical and pharmaceutical investors that ADGM and Abu Dhabi as a whole are aligned in regulating the healthcare industry,” he added .
