United Arab Emirates ADQ Announced that they have merged the Valcar-Travel & Service team into the organization, becoming the UAE Development Team.
Five of Valcar’s 2022 drivers move to Emirates ADQ team this season, with transfers of illustrious drivers among them Silvia Persian and athletic director David Arenzi announced in September. Claire ConsonyEleonora Gasparini, Olivia Baril and Karolina Kumiega also joined the team from Valcar.
Bringing the remnants of the team into the larger Team UAE organization will allow Team Valcar founder Valentino Villa to continue his work of developing new talent as Team Manager UAE Development.

Four drivers from last year’s Valcar Continental team will join the UAE Development Team: Federica Damiana Piergiovanni, Anastasia Carbonari, Carlotta Cipressi and Emma Redaelli, all under 23 years old.
Yulia Biriukova, a stage winner of the Ladies Tour of Thuringia, joins from the Arkéa team. Irish track racer Lara Gillespie and mountain biker Gaia Tormena join as specialists and 20-year-old Linda Zanetti will move from WorldTeam to the development team.
The team also includes two drivers from the UAE, Huda and Zahra Hussein, representing a total of nine different nationalities.
The UCI allows drivers from development teams associated with WorldTeams to race with either team, giving young drivers the opportunity to gain experience in major competitions. Both teams must have the same paying agent and a common identity — whether it’s a name or a jersey design.
Riders benefit from the guidance and support of the larger team, while gaining the opportunity to grow. WorldTeam also acquires a pool of drivers from which they can draw to fill their calendar rosters without the minimum salaries required by top teams.
Other WorldTeams with development wings include Canyon-SRAM, and as recently announced, Fenix-DeceuninckThe AG Insurance-Soudal QuickStep Continental team also has an affiliated under-23 team.
