ABU DHABI, 14th January, 2023 (WAM) — The seventh annual Global Energy Forum, organized by the Atlantic Council, opened today in Abu Dhabi as part of the activities of Abu Dhabi Sustainable Development Week, ADSW. Participants include the world’s most influential energy leaders to set the global energy agenda for the coming year and drive the global energy transition.
This year’s forum is particularly important as key climate and energy strategy issues take center stage in the run-up to the United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP28), which the UAE will also host by the end of the year.
The 2023 Forum will focus on the challenge of simultaneously managing energy security priorities and decarbonization efforts.
Headlines include John Kerry, US Presidential Climate Envoy and former US Secretary of State; Amos Hochstein, US State Department’s Special Presidential Coordinator for Global Infrastructure and Energy Security; Grant Shapps MP, UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Director General Energy, European Commission; Francesco La Camera, Director General IRENA; Dr Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, Arab Republic of Egypt and Ministerial Coordinator and Climate Envoy at COP27; Alparslan Bayraktar, Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Republic of Turkey; Infrastructure Alliance Envoy and Global Champion; Former Minister of Economy, Planning and International Cooperation of the Republic of Senegal; and top executives from the global energy sector.
The forum is held in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Mubadala Investment Company, TAQA and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), with CNBC as international media partner.
