Seven women in the world’s top 10 will arrive in Dubai next month for the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, a quality line-up that also includes defending champion Jelena Ostapenko .
WTA World No. 1 Iga Swatek leads a star line-up at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium from 19 to 25 February, which also includes Arabian superstar and world No. 2 Anse Jabr; Jesse Capegula (3rd) and Caroline Garcia (4th). Fans will see 14 players from the top 20 take on Latvia’s Ostapenko, who is the 2022 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium champion, confirming she will defend her crown.
Poland’s 21-year-old Swiatek has won two more Grand Slam titles in 2022, becoming the top of the WTA annual rankings. This is her second French Open title after her first US Open title. Meanwhile, her opponent at Flushing Meadows – Jabr – became the first Arab to reach a Grand Slam final after reaching the final again at Wimbledon and the US Open last year. A crowd favorite, the Tunisian is the highest-ranked African in tennis history.

Other names confirmed for the women’s tournament include last year’s Dubai finalist Veronika Kudermetova, currently world No. 9; world No. 8 Casakina; 2017 US Open finalist Madison Keys; Spain, who lives in Dubai Paula Bardoza and Brazilian number one Beatriz Haddad Maia.
