Cebu City, Philippines – Cebu World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Champion Ellise Xoe Malilay Makes More Competitive Blue Belt Debut at 2023 Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Challenge category and received a well-deserved silver medal. The Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE over the weekend.
Recall that the 15-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu athlete won the gold medal in the women’s gi uniform youth yellow belt 40 kg class at the 4th Abu Dhabi World Youth Jiu-Jitsu Championships last year.
This time, Ellise Xoe, representing the Atrixion MMA Academy in Dubai, UAE, was only one step away from the gold medal, but lost to Meera Alhosani of the UAE 1-2 in the final, narrowly losing in the gold medal round.
Still, Marile joined seven other competitors on the podium despite suffering a knee injury during training.
In her first fight, Ellise Xoe defeated Latifa Salem by submission via an Ezekiel choke. She went on to advance to the gold medal round with a 1-0 win over fellow Filipino Nikeisha Angelique Pascual.
Her older sister, Eliecha Zoe, on the other hand, is preparing for her upcoming debut in the purple belt department. She was recently promoted by no less than the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for her gold medal at last year’s World Championships.
