Boston, MA—EditShare announced that it has delivered two large-scale EFS storage networking systems and the FLOW workflow tool to customers in the UAE. These solutions were designed and implemented by EditShare’s system integration partner in the region, UBMS (United Broadcast & Media Solutions).
In one of these deployments, a department of the Dubai government has been using EditShare storage for over five years. As part of the upgrade to provide all users with access from a common location, it leveraged EditShare to provide a solution for expansion storage nodes, a fully redundant backup site at an alternate location, and an LTO tape-based ARK archive subsystem.
Additionally, regional broadcaster MBC Group has implemented its first EditShare EFS storage network to improve production workflows at its facilities.
For deployment, redundancy is important for two alternate locations. To solve this problem, the ARK tape archives are kept synchronized by FLOW asset management software that resides on the EditShare storage network. The result is content that can be ingested immediately after shooting and immediately available to all editors, regardless of their editing software of choice.
“The EditShare platform provided all the functionality these two very different customers needed,” said Rayan Nasser, UBMS project lead. “We were able to configure the system according to each user’s needs, setting up business rules for synchronization and archiving to provide the highly resilient, productive solution they were looking for.”
“We have worked with this department of the Dubai government for a long time, so we understand their requirements and workflow very well,” Nasser added. “This was our first project with MBC, and we provided them with a complete production system, including cameras from Sony and ARRI. EditShare worked really well for such a high profile production workflow.”
Said Bacho, Chief Revenue Officer, EditShare added: “We are delighted to be part of two important high-profile storage implementations in the Middle East. We understand the importance of protecting valuable assets and this proven EditShare solution, with full redundancy, Ensure robust, secure and cost-effective workflows are maintained in these mission-critical environments.”
The MBC production platform is now live. A new storage network for this sector of the Government of Dubai is being implemented as part of a rolling enhancement programme.
