Where to see fireworks and stunts in Abu Dhabi this weekend

The show is still going on at the Zayed Festival…

After all the fireworks, fun, and festive cheer in Q4 2022, life in January might feel a little monotonous. The good news is, you can still enjoy sky drama and spectacular carnival fun at the ongoing Zayed Festival in Abu Dhabi.

The family fun-filled extravaganza is based in Al Wathba and broke (four more) Guinness World Records this year (and technically last year) for New Year’s Eve celebrations with a 60-minute finish time and fireworks display.

The weekly fireworks festival will take place every Saturday at 10pm until the festival ends on March 18, 2023.

Of course, it won’t be quite the same size as the NYE extravaganza, and the event’s spectacular drone show is reserved for special events (stay tuned), but Entrance will remain Dhs5 only. And, some really frugal sky candy can be made.

extreme weekend

That’s not all the “whoops” and “bangs” that accompanied the Zayed Music Festival over the weekend.

Announced this week, we can now look forward to the return of Extreme Weekend. Festival-goers will be able to watch the stunning, death-defying motorcycle ride every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from now until February 25 (6.30pm and 8.30pm daily) car offroad stunts and extreme racing drifting performance.

Expect high-octane-fueled daring feats and longer hang times as beefed-up stunt bikes blast through the air one after another.

What else is happening on Zayed Day?

New attractions include the Glow Garden, “House of Horrors,” Art Zone, Selfie Block, Dessert Museum, Go Karts, Kids Zone and Crazy Cars Zone.

Al Wathba, until April 1, 4pm to midnight (1am on weekends), Dhs5 for admission. zayedfestival.com
