On Thursday, foreign ambassadors visited Al Dhafra in Abu Dhabi.Wan
At the invitation of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler’s representative in the Al Dhafra region, a delegation of Arab and foreign ambassadors to the UAE visited some of the heritage and tourist attractions and activities in the Al Dhafra region.
The delegation first visited Madinat Zayed’s Shams 1 solar power plant, the largest renewable energy power plant in the Middle East with a capacity of 100 MW.
The delegation also visited the 16th Al Dhafra Festival held at Madinat Zayed, Al Dhafra District, where they were received by Nasser Mohamed Matar Al Mansoori, Deputy Secretary, Court of Representatives of Rulers of Al Dhafra District; Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Abu Dhabi Culture Director of Festivals and Director of Planning and Project Management of the Projects and Heritage Festivals Committee, and some officials of the Al Dhafra District Ruler’s Representative Court. The delegation visited the main platform of camel market activities and learned about its standards and evaluation system.
The tour includes a visit to the traditional souks, which include many shops displaying traditional products and tools, as well as handicrafts made from clay, wood, palm leaves and various traditional foods.
The delegation concluded their visit by visiting the Qasr Al Sarab resort, located deep in the desert in the Al Dhafra region, witnessing many folk activities and sports, and learning about the Emirati heritage elements of the resort.
Expressing their delight at visiting the Al Dhafra festival and learning about the heritage and crafts of the UAE, the ambassadors praised the country’s efforts to keep its heritage alive, which demonstrates the people’s pride in their national identity.
They also thanked Sheikh Hamdan and commended his support for heritage and cultural activities and the hospitality extended to them by the people of Al Dhafra.
