Innovative mobile app for expectant mothers launched in the UAE

Feminist tech mobile app Mamahood announced the launch of its innovative app in Dubai on Monday, aiming to provide women in the Middle East and North Africa with expert care, guidance and community engagement to help them be supported throughout their fertility, pregnancy and childbirth journey.

Mamahood offers a range of health tracking tools, including menstrual and pregnancy tracking, educational content for healthcare professionals, and community engagement that connects women with other mothers and healthcare advisors for support.

Mamahood’s standout feature is its on-demand live chat, which allows women to connect with licensed medical advisors in real-time 24/7. This feature provides women with immediate and convenient access to professional care, enabling them to address their health concerns with confidence and discretion, and without delay or hesitation to put their and their families’ well-being first.

In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, women’s health is often neglected and many women do not have access to quality healthcare.

According to a recent study in the Journal of Medical Internet Research, 70 percent of in-person medical appointments could be conducted remotely through telehealth.

Additionally, a study published in the Journal of Research in Obstetrics and Gynecology found that new mothers in the Middle East and North Africa region reported high levels of anxiety and depression, ranging from 18 percent to 40 percent, with a lack of Social support and access to health care resources are limited.
