The Home Office has warned the public about a new scam involving residents receiving fraudulent text messages and calls.
The calls and messages were sent by people who claimed to work for the Home Office and needed to update the victims’ personal details in the department’s systems. They ask victims to share information in text form.
The ministry stressed that it does not update residents’ personal information through text messages. It urged the public to exercise caution when receiving suspicious calls or text messages.
