EGA partners with Microsoft UAE to develop digital aluminum solutions – Aluminum Insider

Emirates Global Aluminum PJSC (EGA) this week announced a new partnership with Microsoft UAE to collaborate on Industry 4.0 and the overall digital transformation of the global aluminum industry.

The new agreement will see the two companies jointly implement EGA’s digital roadmap, a program aimed at implementing new digital transformation technologies. To date, the roadmap has implemented innovations in artificial intelligence and big data.

EGA said the companies will develop a private Microsoft Azure Cloud across their operations, which it says will use artificial intelligence and big data tools to increase and improve automation. Carlo K. Nizam, chief digital officer at Emirates Global Aluminum, said the partnership will bring out the best of both companies.

“Combining the talent, strength and technology of EGA and Microsoft will allow us to develop the aluminum industry’s most advanced digital capabilities and hybrid cloud platform. At the same time, we will improve the environmental sustainability of EGA’s computing infrastructure and benefit from for seamless security and operations of our public and private cloud assets.”

Naim Yazbeck, general manager of Microsoft UAE, said his company is eager to strengthen its cooperation with EGA.

Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Emirates Global Aluminum is an aluminum group formed in 2013 from the merger of Dubai Aluminum (DUBAL) and Emirates Aluminum (EMAL). The enterprise value of EGA at the time of the merger was estimated at $15 billion. The company is equally owned by Mubadala Development Company of Abu Dhabi and Investment Corporation of Dubai. Emirates Global Aluminum holds interests in bauxite/alumina and primary aluminum smelting.
