Delta Hotels in Dubai Investment Park has announced a new sustainability initiative in partnership with AirOWater, which aims to convert humidity in the air into sustainable drinking water for hotel guests.
AirOWater technology uses moisture in the air to generate fresh drinking water. AirOWater’s Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG) aims to address the global shortage of clean drinking water and to meet the growing demand for fresh drinking water by providing an innovative and sustainable solution to replace plastic.
Raja Zeidan, Multi-Property General Manager, Delta Hotels by Marriott, Dubai Investment Park and The St. Regis Downtown Dubai, said: “We are delighted to partner with AirOWater and move towards more sustainable hotel operations. We have implemented the Dubai Investment Park Marriott Delta’s system, very happy with the results so far.
“All of us in the hospitality industry need to focus more on sustainability and work together to find solutions to eliminate plastic bottles in our hotels. Thinking about how we use water and the containers in which it is stored is a good place to start, but we A lot of time and effort is planned to be put into the hotel’s future sustainability plans.”
Delta Hotels by Marriott creates seamless travel experiences at 100 locations around the world, focusing on the details that really matter, with simple, streamlined service and intuitively designed guest rooms.
The hotel’s partnership with AirOWater is in line with the brand’s commitment to sustainability and the Delta brand pillar of providing complimentary bottled water to all guests. Delta Hotels by Marriott Dubai Investments Park will be the first Marriott hotel in the Middle East to partner with AirOWater.
The hotel currently has two AirOWater AWGs that can produce 500 to 1,000 liters of water a day, enough to meet all of the hotel’s drinking water needs. All 246 guest rooms, restaurants, conference facilities, spa and gym have refrigerators filled with filtered AirOWater glass bottles.
The hotel is completely plastic-free in terms of water bottles, and no plastic water bottles are used in any public or staff areas, including the back office. For every 1000 liters of AWG installed, the hotel saves around 11,000kg of plastic and further reduces its carbon footprint, as no water is wasted compared to desalination or typical reverse osmosis water treatment systems. – trade arab news agency
