KARACHI, Feb. 10 (PTI) Two Pakistani army officers were killed and three others were injured in a bomb blast in the country’s restive Balochistan province on Friday, an official statement said.

The explosion occurred when an improvised explosive device exploded near security forces engaged in a disinfection operation in the province’s Kohlu district, killing an active-duty major and a Pakistani army captain.

“Two officers of the Pakistani army were killed in a bomb explosion in the Kohlu district of Balochistan. Three others were also wounded in the explosion,” Inter-Services Public Relations, the media arm of the Pakistani army, said in a statement. .

There has been a marked increase in terrorist attacks in Balochistan and other parts of the country since the outlawed Pakistani Taliban movement canceled a ceasefire with the government last year.
