Emirates SkyCargo signs partnership with Air Canada

UAE-based Emirates SkyCargo has signed an agreement with Air Canada Cargo to offer more benefits to its global customers.

Emirates SkyCargo said in its statement that under the agreement, the parties will collaborate on various projects, including the expansion of freight intermodal alternatives and blocking space arrangements, subject to any necessary regulatory approvals.

These developments are intended to provide greater capacity across the wider global integrated network to both airlines’ cargo customers.

Air Canada Cargo will use Emirates SkyCargo’s high-frequency delivery network through the belly of Emirates’ scheduled passenger flights to more than 140 destinations around the world, as well as additional capacity provided by Emirates’ fleet of 11 freighter aircraft.

In exchange, SkyCargo will have access to more than 60 locations in Canada and more than 150 destinations on five continents via Air Canada Cargo, thanks to the bellyhold capacity of its Boeing 767 freighter fleet and Air Canada’s scheduled passenger flights, Nabil Sultan said. The two airlines have extensive expertise in transporting specialty cargo such as oil and gas drilling equipment, auto parts and pharmaceuticals using dedicated cargo or passenger aircraft, he said.

Emirates and Air Canada have implemented a passenger codeshare agreement spanning 46 destinations in North America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa, as well as a loyalty program partnership that allows Aeroplan and Skywards members to earn and Redemption of miles and points is operated by Air Canada and Emirates, respectively, since a strategic partnership was announced in 2022.

Casey noted that the agreement enables the two carriers to work more closely together to optimize their respective cargo and bellyhold capacity across our extensive and complementary global network.
