Elisa Longo Borghini claimed victory on Saturday and dominated the UAE Tour overall.
The hilltop final of the 107km third stage from Hazza bin Zayed Stadium to Jebel Hafeet shook expectations.
Longo Borghini and Trek Segafredo teammate Gaia Realini spread the distance on the steepest grade and worked together to reach the finish line.
“It’s the way you’ve always dreamed of winning with your teammates,” she said. “Today we couldn’t thank Gaia Realini enough, for me she was the MVP of the day. She was incredible, she set a tough pace and suddenly we were all alone. We said we just need to walk this together Step up and celebrate together.
