IDC will attract world-renowned leaders and decision makers

The International Defense Congress 2023, to be held in Abu Dhabi on 9 February, will attract global leaders, policy makers, ministers, senior officials and speakers dedicated to the defense industry.

The event will shed light on the rapid development of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, and the importance of harnessing these technologies to provide solutions to the challenges facing humanity.

Themed “Adapt, Explore, Transform: Reimagining Security, Society and the Human Experience in an Age of Disruption,” the conference brought together thought leaders, policy makers, influencers, researchers and futurists to debate and Ideas related to progressive and disruptive technologies.

The conference will include a keynote address by Mohammed Ahmed Al Bowardi, UAE Minister of State for Defense Affairs.

The event will consist of 4 panel discussions. The first panel, titled “Promises and Dangers,” looked at the social and economic implications and risks of widespread adoption of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, neuro and biotechnology, and extended reality. Panelists will include: Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Working Applications; François-Régis BOULVERT Director, International Scientific Partnerships, Naval Group; Wesley Kremer, Raytheon Missiles and Defense President; and General John W Nicholson Jr, Chief Executive Officer, Lockheed Martin Middle East.

The theme of the second panel is “Moving with the Times: Investigating and elucidating how the increasing adoption of advanced technology in the workplace is changing approaches to talent development and human capital management. Panelists will include Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE Minister of Education , Robert Kachatryan, Minister of High Technology Industries of Armenia, Lieutenant General (retired) Sir Tom Beckett, Executive Director IISS Middle East, Hassan Al Hosani – Bayanat, Chief Executive Officer (G42).

A third panel, titled “Technology at the Cutting Edge: Studying the Impact of Emerging Technologies on Modern Operations and Future Warfare. Panelists will include: Major General Mubarak Saeed Ghafan Al Jabri, Vice-Chairman of the Idex and Navdex Committee, and the Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, Deputy Minister of Military Forces and Resource Management, Republic of Korea, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, Commander, U.S. Fifth Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces Dongjun Liu; Major General (Ret.) Adam Findlay Professor of Practice, Defense and Regional Security, Griffith Asia Institute, Griffith University.

next frontier

A fourth panel, titled ‘The Next Frontier: Exploring Human Instincts, Exploring Current Dimensions Beyond Earth and the Physical World and Expanding the Human Footprint. Panelists will include Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri, UAE Minister of State for Public Education and Future Technologies; Stephen duMont President of General Motors Co. Nikos Papatsas Senior Partner EFA Group.

The last IDC, held in 2021, brought together 24 international experts, over 400 live participants, and 2,400 virtual participants from 80 countries. — trade arab news agency
