MoS Muraleedharan made a stopover in Sydney on his way to Fiji for the World Hindi Congress.

During his stop in Sydney, the Union minister met Jody McKay, national chair of the Australia India Business Council, and discussed ways to boost trade and business ties between the two countries.

Muraleedharan and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will attend the 12th World Hindi Congress, which will be co-hosted by the governments of India and Fiji and will be held in Nadi from February 15-17.

“This will be EAM’s first visit to Fiji. The visit begins with an incoming ministerial delegation following the formation of a new government in Fiji in December 2022 and will include bilateral talks with the new Fiji leadership. The MEA secretary said the Indian government attached great importance to Hindi, but the language had made limited progress at the UN.

“UN press releases are now available in Hindi. We are working hard to give Hindi its rightful place at the UN,” Kumar said.
