In another WGS session titled Preparing and Empowering the Educational Workforce, Al Ameri emphasized that while using digital technologies to personalize learning is becoming important, we also cannot ignore the “educators” who offer different learning models.

“Teachers should be able to transition and develop skills, know how to differentiate between the different opportunities that exist within a single classroom, and be able to adapt and understand the world around them,” she said.

“What is really important today is creating the right environment in schools. In the same way that other jobs are attractive for people to pursue careers in, the education sector should create the necessary environment at each school level,” she added.

She reiterated that the field of education can only attract the best minds in the field if society can achieve this goal.

Al Ameri said: “Compensation is a challenge, but it is not the only challenge. There are many other factors that need to be present in order to be able to create the right environment for teachers to enable meaningful learning. Technology is not the only solution; it goes back to every teaching practice in which teachers are trained; what ultimately matters is the ability to impart to students…not just knowledge, but more importantly, the ability to use that knowledge effectively in a variety of situations and how to develop the necessary skills, whether collaborative or Adaptability…that’s over the top what’s important to our kids and what they’ll need when they graduate.”
