The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) and the UAE University (UAEU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the country’s second Industry 4.0 Support Center within the UAEU’s 4.0 Zone.

As part of the UAE’s technology transformation programme, the new center will promote Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) applications, best practices in sustainable development, and facilitate technology adoption and development across the manufacturing value chain.

It will include an area to showcase cutting-edge technologies, a collaboration space, and a testing and innovation lab to facilitate the co-development and testing of technologies and processes, and support the commercialization and upscaling of new 4IR technologies.

The signing of the MoU was witnessed by Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technologies, and Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and UAEU Prime Minister.

On the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai, Omar Al Suwaidi, Deputy Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Dr. Ghaleb Al Breiki, Acting Vice-Chancellor of the UAEU, signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Al Amiri said: “This new center will provide a platform for the industrial sector to support research and development, demonstrate and pilot technologies, applications and use cases together with industry and technology partners. The center will also support the adoption of more sustainable operating models in the manufacturing industry , to improve efficiency and drive industrial growth by reducing emissions to meet the UAE’s 2050 net-zero emissions target.

“This MoU reflects MoIAT’s commitment to engaging the academic and R&D sectors and facilitating platforms and dialogue to support industrial facilities in accelerating their digital transformation, of which sustainability is at the heart.

“These efforts are part of the ‘300 Billion’ initiative, a key part of promoting industrial adoption of advanced technologies to improve productivity, efficiency, sustainability and competitiveness,” she added.

Nusseibeh said: “We thank MoIAT and Sarah Al Amiri for their trust in UAEU. The University will continue to work hard to realize the vision of the country’s leadership and support the country to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence.

“We will also strengthen our scientific research as a core pillar of national development and continue to deliver programs that keep pace with the latest science and technology in an effort to produce a new generation of highly qualified and skilled graduates.”

In terms of capacity building, the Empowerment Center will build capacity through targeted training programs and apprenticeships. relevant education.
