Radisson joins forces with Dubai Can to boost water station

[ad_1]

Radisson Hotel Group has partnered with Dubai Can to install drinking water stations in Dubai as part of its active role in key environmental and sustainability aspects.

The initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, aims to reduce the use of single-use plastic water bottles in Dubai. Radisson Hotel Group, in partnership with the Dubai Can Initiative, will install a free drinking water station at Sports City.

Research shows that the average UAE resident uses as many as 450 plastic water bottles per year, resulting in the UAE alone consuming over 4 billion plastic bottles per year. On top of that, the Pacific Institute for Development, Environment and Security said that for every 100,000 one-liter plastic bottles eliminated, 5,844kg of plastic waste, 104 barrels of oil and 17,532kg of CO2 emissions would be avoided.

Dubai Can is a city-wide initiative to inspire individuals, organisations, residents and visitors to switch to reusable water bottles through multiple free drinking fountains across the city. The installation of the fountains at the Sports City is just the beginning of Radisson Hotel Group’s involvement in the Dubai Jar program.

Tim Cordon, Chief Operating Officer, Middle East and Africa, Radisson Hotel Group, commented: “Over the past few years, we at Radisson Hotel Group have implemented several practices and launched several initiatives as part of our strategic commitment to drive environmental protection. “The irreversible impact of our environment is a major challenge facing us today and the Dubai Canning Initiative aims to overcome this hurdle. We support the Crown Prince in this effort and we look forward to being part of this ingenious step towards a greener UAE.” ”

At the recently concluded COP27 in Egypt, Radisson Hotel Group signed the Glasgow Declaration, reaffirming its strong commitment to sustainable development and encouraging other hotel groups to join the call for strong action to reduce emissions over the next decade. half and achieve net zero emissions as soon as possible. Probably before 2050.

The group is actively working to reduce its carbon footprint, with a strategy that focuses on energy efficiency and renewable energy as two key impact levers. The group aims to drive the travel and hospitality industry forward with more green mobility options and plans to expand its fleet of over 510 electric vehicles across EMEA in partnership with Allego, a leading pan-European EV charging solutions provider Network of charging stations. – trade arab news agency
