The studio’s head, Aditya Chopra, has revealed many behind-the-scenes stories about the making of some of their most iconic films, including the 2004 hit Dhoom. Chopra said he had envisioned Dhoom as a marriage of the filmmaking aesthetics of Manmohan Desai and Michael Bay, “As they always say, Hindi cinema has three pillars and you can’t do without it, drama, emotion and romance. I Say I’m going to tear down these three pillars and see what happens! With Dhoom, I want to make a movie that combines Manmohan Desai and Michael Bay.”
Chopra also said production companies spend more money on bikes than on male stars — Abhishek Bachchanuday chopra and john abraham: “In Dhoom, I spend more on bicycles than Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Uday Chopra.” The movie casts Uday Chopra (Aditya Chopra’s younger brother) in a comedic role. However, Uday’s career didn’t really take off in Bollywood, something Aditya admitted during the series. Thinking about it, he said, “My brother is an actor, not a very successful one. This is the son of one of the biggest filmmakers. He’s the brother of a very big filmmaker. Imagine a company like YRF A new guy was introduced and we couldn’t make him a star.”
Aditya Chopra has also directed several films including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Befikre among others.
