Bhandari’s mother, Harikala Bhandari, died Thursday of her injuries at Kirtipur Burns Hospital in Nepal, where she and the congressman were being treated.

Bhandari and his mother were injured after a cooking gas cylinder exploded at their home in Budhanagarh, Kathmandu, at 10.30pm (local time) on Wednesday, the Kathmandu Post reported.
