UAE, Pakistan hold first meeting of Joint Consular Committee

ABU DHABI – The United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan held the first meeting of the Joint Consular Committee to enhance and strengthen cooperation in all joint consular areas to provide outstanding consular support and services to citizens of both countries.

On the UAE side, Faisal Eissa Lutfi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), chaired the meeting, and on the Pakistani side, Rizwan Ahmed Sheikh, Deputy Director for the Middle East, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

MoFAIC Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs Faisal Eissa Lutfi emphasized the importance of cooperation in the consular field and its role in promoting and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, and praised the positive progress in bilateral consular relations this year. He appreciated the efforts made by both sides to provide excellent consular services and facilitate the exchanges between citizens of the two countries.

In turn, the Deputy Director for the Middle East of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the pioneering status of the UAE at the regional and international levels, as well as the important role it plays at all levels, highlighting the Council’s framework for strengthening consular cooperation in all fields.

During the talks, the two sides discussed a number of joint consular affairs and follow-up development plans of the two countries, as well as ways to strengthen joint consular cooperation.

Faisal Lutfi conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, expressing his appreciation for the strong bilateral relations in the consular field between the two countries, and I wish the meeting a success, which reflects the vision and direction of the visionary leadership.

He added that the bilateral relations between the UAE and Pakistan have taken a major leap and have directly contributed to the consolidation and advancement of these relations at the bilateral and global levels. He also stressed that the UAE and Pakistan have historically enjoyed a strong and solid relationship based on many common interests.

The Director of the Middle East Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan praised the development of bilateral relations between the two countries over the past few years, especially in the field of consular cooperation, emphasizing that Pakistan hopes to cooperate and share expertise with the UAE in this area to benefit the citizens of both countries and strengthen the Bilateral relations.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of Interior, Federal Identity and Citizenship Authority, Ministry of Justice, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, and UAE authorities representing the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
