No need to queue for shopping? Yes, please!
Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) has now opened the region’s first cashierless store, Carrefour City+, in the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, another first in the region.
The checkout-free store opened on September 6 and uses artificial intelligence technology to provide a fast, seamless and contactless experience.
In short, customers can use their mobile phones to visit stores, complete shopping, and go out without having to line up or pay at the cashier.
But how does it all work?
Well, store visits and shopping payments are enabled through the MAF Carrefour app.
After entering the Carrefour City+ store, the goods you purchase will be automatically added to the digital shopping basket.
You only need to go out to complete the purchase. That’s it. Before you think the store may be small and don’t have many products. Think again.
Carrefour City+ stocks more than 1,300 items, from snacks to beverages, packaged foods and take-out meals, as well as basic necessities.
This is a video shared by Carrefour UAE on its Instagram account.
As you can see, this experience is completely non-contact, with no shop assistant interaction or queuing.
Want to see it? You can find Carrefour City+ near the link entrance of the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station.
CEO Hani Weiss said, “Carrefour City+ represents a huge leap in the retail industry in the UAE and the region, as Carrefour continues to innovate to meet current needs while predicting future shopping trends.”
When you are in the Mall of the Emirates, be sure to go to Sneaker pop-up store The concept store just opened in the Mall of the Emirates.
