A center overseeing all 3D printing in the UAE has now opened in Abu Dhabi, it was announced on Saturday.

Sindan is the first 3D printing center of excellence in the UAE, launched by the Tawazun Council in partnership with local companies.

“The launch of the first UAE Center of Excellence for 3D Printing is a major milestone and demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to innovation and technological advancement. We believe the center will play a key role in shaping the future of the additive manufacturing industry in the UAE and beyond ,” said Shareef Hashim Al Hashmi, CEO of the Tawazun Council.

In addition to helping and accelerating the expansion of the field of additive manufacturing, the center will also conduct research and development on key and important components.

Hashmi pointed out that the opening of the center is an important step taken by the UAE in the field of advanced manufacturing, which reflects the country’s determination to commit to innovation and development.

“The center will play an important role in securing the country’s future growth and competitiveness in the global market.”

Muammar Abdulla Abushehab, director of defense and security industrial affairs at the Tawazun Council, noted that the center’s main mission will involve influencing additive manufacturing and 3D printing strategies in the defense, aerospace and other sectors.

“The center will also serve as a bridge between industry and academia to address national needs by providing 3D printing certification, research and development standards and validation, and expanding the UAE’s footprint in global supply chains,” said Abushehab.

“By training and developing the functional and scientific skills of Emiratis, the center will enhance capabilities by providing them with additional high-quality, long-term employment prospects. This is in line with the UAE leadership’s vision of prioritizing the development of Emirati capabilities,” said Abushehab added.
