Hyderabad (Telangana) [India]Feb 26 (ANI): Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said on Sunday that relations with China will not be normal until the standoff that occurred at the start of the COVID lockdown is resolved.

In a speech on “India’s G20 Presidency” at the Hyderabad chapter of the Forum of Nationalist Thinkers in Hyderabad on Sunday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said relations with China would not improve. COVID lockdown resolved.

It is worth noting that the Galwan standoff between India and China took place in 2020, when the lockdown during the COVID pandemic began.

EAM said today the whole world is watching the changes in problem solving in India.

Referring to what happened with China at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in 2020, EAM said we must not forget that it happened when our lockdown was just beginning.

“We are fully engrossed in the COVID challenge. Please thank Prime Minister Modi for his anonymous work. He has deployed troops at such heights in very difficult conditions during COVID. Then faced this challenge head on,” he added.

He further said while reassuring, “I can tell you that the whole world took notice. They also noticed that we have been steadfast since then. We have made it very clear that until this issue is resolved , our relationship with China will not be normal.”

“The world took notice of the resolve and determination,” he added.

Recalling some similar incidents, Jaishankar said: “We were not so effective and determined before, and we sometimes sent them unprepared. But now, whoever is sent is fully equipped and supported.”

He also touched on changes in infrastructure near the border, which he said has challenges because it has been neglected for so long.

“We’ve doubled our roads in the northern regions and tripled our tunneling,” he added.

“Today people say the economy and infrastructure don’t matter. Let me tell you, it matters to soldiers in the field. If we don’t provide them with infrastructure, we don’t treat them fairly,” EAM said.

The world is also watching how India handles terrorism. “Terrorism has plagued us for a long time. But the rest of the world compared our response to 26/11, and our response to Uri and Balakot. They saw the difference,” Jaishankar said.

EAM also addressed the “leakage problem” in a lighter way when it came to how the world was focusing on India’s actions.

“I found out that many other countries also have a leakage problem. They ask us how to solve this problem. We first tell them that we solve this problem by putting different political parties in power. Then we also solve it by applying technology,” he added . (Arnie)
