NEW YORK, Feb. 26 (AP) Listen up! At least 21 people in New York City had their fancy Apple headphones stolen by a gang of moped-riding robbers, police say.

The theft, which began on Jan. 28, typically involves four men on two mopeds riding up to victims from behind, snatching their Apple AirPods Max earbuds and speeding away. These noise-canceling devices currently retail for $549 each.

Sonic sweepers struck across Manhattan, including one incident in Central Park, with victims ranging in age from 18 to 41, police said. Most burglaries happen in the mid to late afternoon. Five headsets were stolen on February 8, and eight headsets were stolen on February 18.

The thieves are still at large and no arrests have been made.

Police this week released a photo of the suspects on a moped and a video showing one of them getting off the moped and walking into Washington Square Park, carrying two AirPod Max headphones.

Unlike the AirPods and AirPods Pro, which are small and fit in the ears, the AirPods Max earphones sit above the ears and have an adjustable headband that connects the left and right sides. (Associated Press)
