‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ Leads LEJA Award Winners – Variety

The Latino Entertainment Journalists Association (LEJA) presented its annual awards, “everything is everywhere’ won 10 awards, including Best Picture, Daniels as Director and Michelle Yeoh as Actress.

The sci-fi comedy leads with 16 nominations, the most in the organization’s history.

Paramount’s “Top Gun: Maverick” had the second-most wins, with Claudio Miranda taking home three awards for Best Cinematography, Sound Effects and Special Effects Design.

“I am very excited about the selection of outstanding Latino critics, journalists and writers from around the country,” said LEJA founder and president Clayton Davis. “I am proud of our small but mighty The organization applauds a selection of esteemed films from artists we all love and admire.”

“Wakanda Forever” won for costume design (Ruth E. Carter) and original song (“Lift Me Up” by Tems, Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna and Ryan Coogler).

“Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” won two awards for animated film and adapted screenplay. Additionally, LEJA members selected Guillermo del Toro as the 2023 recipient of the Rita Moreno Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Guillermo del Toro has been a tireless advocate for beautiful cinema in all its forms, and this is the highest honor for a profession that embodies Latino excellence,” the group said in a statement. Never sticking to a single genre, he made an indelible mark on Hollywood with such ambitious endeavors as Kronos (1992), Imitation (1997), The Devil’s Backbone ( 2001), Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008), Pacific Rim (2013) and Crimson Peak (2015). An Academy Award winner, del Toro is best known for his films Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), The Shape of Water (2017), Nightmare Alley (2021) and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (2022), for this He received nine nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, and more. He is the first director of an animated feature nominated by the organization. The Latino Entertainment Journalists Association pays tribute to the Mexican director and looks forward to many more exciting creations in his lifetime. Amazing work.”
