GENEVA, March 4 (PTI) — India has slammed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for “baselessly referring” to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and allowing Pakistan to hijack and misuse its platform to carry out Islamabad’s “evil agenda” against New Delhi.

In exercising her right of reply at the high-level segment of the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council, Seema Pujani, First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of India in Geneva, flatly refused to refer to the statement made by the OIC representative.

“Regarding the OIC’s statement, we reject baseless references to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” Purjani said in a statement on Friday.

“The fact is that the entire territory of the Union Territory of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh was, is and will always be part of India. Pakistan is illegally occupying Indian territory,” she said.

Instead of calling on its member state, Pakistan, to renounce state-sponsored terrorism and undo its occupation of Indian territory, the OIC has “allowed Pakistan to hijack and abuse its platform to carry out its nefarious agenda of malicious propaganda against India,” Pujani said.

India previously criticized the Jeddah-based Organization of the Islamic Conference for trying to interfere and meddle in India’s internal affairs, which it considered completely unacceptable.

A foreign ministry spokesman said the OIC had discredited its blatantly communal, partisan and factually incorrect approach to issues.
