UAE private sector working hours cut during Ramadan

Dubai: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that all employees in the private sector in the UAE will reduce their working hours by two hours a day during Ramadan.

In a circular on the matter issued on Monday, the ministry said: “Depending on the requirements and nature of the work, businesses may adopt a flexible or remote working model within the daily working hours during Ramadan.”

The proclamation is to implement Clause 2 of Article 15 of Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022 concerning the implementing regulations of Federal Decree No. 33 of 2021 on Industrial Relations and its amendments.

Private Dubai during Ramadan School hours will be reduced to a maximum of five hoursaccording to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

Private schools must offer up to five hours of instruction during the holy month and the school day must end by 12:00 noon on Friday for Friday prayers, the notice said.

This year, Ramadan, schools will only be open for eight days due to spring break from March 25 to April 9.

Earlier, the Federal Administration for Human Resources (FAHR) issued a special circular outlining the official Working hours of ministries and federal entities During Ramadan.

According to the notification, the official working hours of ministries and federal entities will be from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, working hours will be limited to 3 hours from 9am to 12pm, unless the nature of the work requires otherwise.

The notification also states that federal entities may continue to implement the approved flexible working rules during Ramadan, observing the approved daily working hours.
