SITA, Volocopter Digital Systems Vertiport Partner

[ad_1]

Urban air mobility (UAM) pioneer Volocopter has entered into a partnership with SITA, the world’s leading IT provider for the air transport industry, and SITA has been selected as the preferred digital and IT systems partner for Volocopter’s vertiport.

Under the agreement, SITA has become the latest investor to join Volocopter’s Series E financing, solidifying the strategic vision championed by the partnership.

UAM will provide a new form of sustainable aviation, offering multiple mobility options to cities around the world. The company’s product, the VoloCity electric air taxi, will operate routes in congested megacities, providing future passengers with stable, quiet and safe flights. Flights may be hailed through designated boarding points (or “vertiports”). As such, this partnership has the potential to shape aviation industry standards.

SITA will deploy its air transport expertise to the emerging UAM industry, setting new operating standards and a digital-first passenger experience. SITA’s product portfolio includes a wide range of IT solutions for airport management and operations, passenger operations, flight and aircraft operations, baggage handling and border management.

Volocopter is known for its integrated UAM ecosystem approach. Its digital operating system, VoloIQ, connects all partners for holistic service. As such, VoloIQ enables a digital-first approach that will translate into an end-to-end airline passenger experience. This cloud-based system is undergoing certification by the relevant aviation authorities.

Christian Bauer, Volocopter’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Volocopter has always taken a holistic ecosystem approach. We work together with our partners to make it ready for commercial operation. This involves setting up the necessary infrastructure, maintenance, flight operations, IT and customer service.” SITA is a leading airport and airline IT provider, and we believe we couldn’t have had a better partner to make our seamless travel experience possible.”

Sergio Colella, President of SITA Europe, said: “Volocopter benefits from its first-mover advantage and is at the forefront of making electric air taxis a reality. UAM world and defining a seamless, smarter approach to air travel in urban environments. We will put theory into practice as early as 2024, when we expect the first commercial eVTOLs to enter service.” – trade arab news agency
