“La Nit No Fa Vigília” and “Hidden City” receive Best Progress in Malaga

The feature film “La nit no fa vigília” set in Barcelona and the Argentinian film “Hidden City” (“Ciudad Oculta”) won the Progressive Award for the Spanish and Latin American program at the Malaga Festival on Friday.

“La nit no fa vigília” (roughly translated as “night without vigil”) tells the story of a young man who lives with and cares for his frail elderly grandmother, but still finds time for a nocturnal social life. It was one of the frontrunners to win at the awards show.

The joint project “La nit no fa vigília” by a student group consisting of Laura Corominas Espelt, Laura Serra Solé, Clara Serrano Llorens, Gerard Simó Gimeno, Ariadna Ulldemolins Abad and Pau Vall Capdet also won the trade magazine Cine y Tele Award.

Francisco Bouza’s “Hidden City” tells the story of a young football player in Buenos Aires who must embark on a journey through the city of the dead to cope with the loss of a friend.

These projects are among the many winners participating in this year’s Malaga WIP program and the Malaga Festival Fund and Co-production Event (MAFF).

Víctor Iriarte’s “Sobre Todo de Noche,” which revolves around two women who meet for the first time, one who was forced to give up her child for adoption when she was very young, and the other, the parents who adopted and raised the boy, won Aracne Digital Film Post-Production Services Award and Latido Films Distribution Award.

Two films received Yagán Films’ Sound Production Award: Juan Pablo Polanco and César Jaimes’ feature-length hybrid “Carropasajero,” about the indigenous Wayuú people on the Colombian-Venezuelan border and a woman who returns to her home country to meet her family afterward. stories of years in exile; and Agustín Toscano’s Argentine documentary “I Believe in You” (“En Vos Confio”), about two women who meet in a convent, abandon their habit of living in secret, adopt a daughter, and later face criminal accused.

“I Believe in You” also won the LatAmcinema.com Award for Latin American Project.

Juan Agustín Carbonere’s Argentinian feature film “El Santo” follows a therapist from humble beginnings who builds a craze through the use of wacky and disturbing techniques A Follower Story, which won a Damita Joe Distribution Award.

“Sage” also won the Music Library Award with Jenifer de la Rosa’s autobiographical documentary “Hija del Volcán” (“Daughter of the Volcano”), a Spanish-Mexican co-production.

The awards at the MAFF Co-production and Financing Forum in Malaga are in full swing. Spaniard Ana Ortiz’s feature debut “El claro de las luciérnagas” (“El claro de las luciérnagas”), produced by Sergy Moreno, is a thriller with a touch of horror that won first prize at the Cántico Producciones Awards, while Jô Serfaty and Clarissa Guarilha’s Brazilian work “Borda do Mundo” won the second prize.

The Honduras-Mexico-Guatemala-Norway project “Cae el Sol” by Aeden O ´Connor Agurcia and Ana Isabel Martins Palacios won the Bolivian Laboratory Industry Award in July.

The recipient of the ECAM award this autumn for its participation in the incubator program of the Madrid Film Academy is “Borda do Mundo”.

“4Eber”, the Peruvian-Mexican project of Ximena Valdivia Salas and Illari Orccotoma Mendoza, won the Sanfic Award at the San Diego Film Festival, including an invitation to the Production Lab in the Chilean capital in August.

Meanwhile, the Mexican production “Toda una vida” by Ariel Gutiérrez and Víctor Léycegui and the Peruvian project “La Otra Orilla” by Francesca Canepa Sarmiento and Enid Marie Campos León won the Festival’s Distribution Prize.

The three chord/music library winners were: Arima Leon and Daute Campos’ Spanish project “Tal Vez”, which won the Female Screen Industry Award; Christian Lagos Soto and Maximiliano Bolados’ Chilean project “October’s Mother” won the Ibero-American Award; Marilina Calós and Soledad San Julian’s Argentine work “Moxos” won the Latin American Award.

The Elamedia-Sideral International Publishing Award went to Rakesh Narwani for his Spanish project “El Gran Bazar de Mis Padres,” Also part of Cambio de Plano, Netflix-Dama’s diversity plan for 2023.
