Lahore [Pakistan]March 19 (ANI): As political turmoil in Pakistan continues, the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Justice Movement (PTI) sought security clearance on Sunday to hold a public rally in Lahore on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

The PTI Lawyers Wing submitted an application for security clearance to the Lahore District Administration.

This time, as in the earlier application, the Lahore government refused to grant permission to PTI.

According to ARY News, the government refused the permit, citing the security situation in the provincial capital. Pakistan Justice Instigation (PTI) leader Imran Khan had said earlier on March 13 that a power demonstration would be held at a Pakistani tower on Sunday.

Police in Punjab state broke into the residence of Imran Khan, hours after the head of Pakistan’s Justice Movement hit the road on Saturday for a court hearing in the Toshakhana case.

According to news reports, there was a recent battle between police and PTI supporters at Khan’s Lahore residence, with multiple people injured on both sides when the former tried to arrest Khan.

Imran Khan criticized the police action on his official Twitter account. He tweeted: “Meanwhile, Punjab police launched a raid on my house in Zaman Park, where only Bushra Begum was alone. Under what law are they doing this? This is part of the London scheme, which Promise to bring the absconder Nawaz Sharif to power in exchange for agreeing to an appointment.”

On Saturday, a Pakistani court canceled the arrest warrant for Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case and adjourned the hearing until March 30, the Express Tribune reported.

Additional session judge Zafar Iqbal noted that the circumstances were not conducive to holding a hearing, directing former prime minister Imran Khan to ensure his attendance at the next hearing on March 30. (ANI)
