Balochistan [Pakistan]March 21 (ANI): Security forces recovered a large number of weapons and ammunition, including improvised explosive devices, during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Rehman Kahul district of Chaman, Balochistan, the military media unit has learned. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Sunday’s operation was aimed at clearing suspected terrorist hideouts in connection with recent attacks, including the placement of improvised explosive devices in and around Chaman.

The military media department said that thanks to continuous technical surveillance and reconnaissance in the area, the location of the terrorists was determined and security forces were dispatched to check.

It added that in addition to finding weapons, ammunition and explosives at the site, security forces conducted an extensive search of the area but the terrorists managed to escape.

In a separate statement issued on Saturday, ISPR said security forces killed three terrorists during an IBO in the Avalan district of Balochistan province, the Tribune reported.

It added that the IBO was activated from March 15 to intercept terrorist groups operating in southern Awaran.

ISPR said the group was linked to “shooting and improvised explosive device incidents” on Turbat Awaran Road and surrounding areas.

“According to credible information, multiple ambushes have been laid out along different routes in areas frequented by terrorists over the past three days,” the military media department said, adding that three terrorists were intercepted on their way to their hideouts.

“After being cordoned off, they opened fire on security forces. In the ensuing intense firefight, all three terrorists were killed,” ISPR said.

It added that a cache of weapons and ammunition had also been found. (Arnie)
