Abu Dhabi to host world’s largest investment forum

The 12th Annual Investment Conference (AIM Global 2023) will be held in Abu Dhabi from 8-10 May, featuring more than 600 high-level speakers in more than 160 dialogue sessions.

Themed “Investment Paradigm Shift: Future Investment Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth, Diversity and Prosperity,” the event promises to be the world’s largest investment forum.

Abu Dhabi is hosting AIM Global for the first time, supported by a partnership between the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, in line with the emirate’s efforts to further strengthen its economic position in the region, by consolidating initiatives aimed at sustainable development and leveraging digital technologies investment opportunities and promote foreign direct investment among countries around the world.

Strengthening the position of the UAE

Dawood Al Shezawi, Chairman of the Annual Investment Conference, said: “The largest investment forum, AIM, has managed in its previous sessions to cement the UAE’s position on the global investment landscape and drive its progress over the next 50 years.”

He added that hosting AIM in Abu Dhabi is what makes it a preferred and thriving business and investment destination, its ability and flexibility in responding to change and development, stimulating and supporting the right activities and talent, and delivering innovation Proactive capabilities and flexibility result in solutions to current and future challenges.

“The event provides an opportunity for businessmen and investors to meet, form strategic agreements and partnerships, expand their businesses and introduce new job avenues, provided by the rich investment sector available in Abu Dhabi and across the UAE,” added Al Shezhawi road.

Range of activities

This year’s edition aims to expand the scope of the work through a series of activities that benefit all involved. It will focus on two main tracks, investment and innovation and technology, and 10 key sectors, including agriculture, energy, technology, infrastructure, manufacturing, tourism and hospitality, transport and logistics, finance, healthcare and education.

AIM has a range of events and programs in its agenda such as specialist exhibitions, investment roundtables, investment awards, start-up awards, investor hubs, investment destinations, B2B, G2B, G2G conferences, regional focus forums as well as pre-event seminars. Additionally , will also organize and host a number of side conferences and events, including “Make it in the Emirates”; “Invest in Abu Dhabi”; “Road to the World Investment Forum” in partnership with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development; “Entrepreneur Investment Forum” of the Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO); “Bloomberg New Energy Finance Forum”; “Future Finance Forum” with the Union of Arab Banks; “World Local Production Forum” in cooperation with the World Health Organization; (UNWTO) “Tourism Investment Forum”; “Agricultural Science and Technology and Food Security Investment Forum” hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations; “Least Developed Countries Forum” organized in cooperation with the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies; “Financial Universe Forum”; Distressed and Alternative Investment Forum, co-organized by DDC Financial Group; Advanced Manufacturing Investment Forum, hosted by UNIDO.

Entrepreneur Investment Summit (UNIDO)

The Entrepreneur Investment Summit 2023 is organized by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, the Federation of Arab Chambers of Commerce and the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office in Bahrain to create a platform to invest.

It also seeks to share best practices and experiences in stimulating and unleashing entrepreneurship and joint investment in Africa and the Arab region, and to consider challenges, opportunities, threats and the way forward towards Arab-African economic integration.

Future Finance Forum

The Future of Finance Forum, organized in partnership with the Arab Banking Union, will provide a platform for stakeholders from government, industry, civil society and academia to take a comprehensive look at the trends and challenges shaping the future of finance. The theme of the forum is “Using Innovative Technologies to Promote Financial Inclusion and Sustainable Development”, reflecting the recognition of the critical role that financial innovation plays in promoting inclusive and sustainable development.

Tourism Investment Forum (UNWTO)

Following the unprecedented and widespread disruption to the tourism industry caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the United Nations World Tourism Organization is organizing a Tourism Investment Forum that will require a quantum leap in tourism investment to better support and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals .

There is a growing consensus among tourism stakeholders about how the future resilience of the tourism industry will depend on the sector’s ability to balance the needs of people, planet and prosperity. In line with these objectives, the Tourism Investment Forum provides an opportunity for governments, private sector investors, multilateral financial institutions and development banks to strengthen coordination and combine their capabilities and resources to transform priorities into investable investments by unlocking new potential project. Redefine the way of tourism investment.

Bloomberg New Energy Finance UAE Forum

The Bloomberg New Energy Finance UAE Forum discusses the dynamic shift in demand for traditional commodities such as oil, gas and metals in the context of the transition to a low-carbon economy as the landscape for new commodities such as electricity, carbon, hydrogen and even aviation fuel for sustainable development is set to change . Participants will also address several issues, such as the role of “clean energy molecules” and what Middle Eastern energy producers should expect. The forum will also present the findings of the New Energy Outlook report and the various net-zero pathways that may emerge by country and industry, with the Middle East playing a role in supporting pathways in other countries.

Distressed and Alternative Investments Forum

DDC Financial Group’s Distressed and Alternative Investments Forum features two dialogue groups. The first topic, “The Role of Distressed and Alternative Assets in a Diversified Portfolio,” discusses the opportunities available to investors in this space, the current economic environment, and how rising interest rates can create a unique set of opportunities for distressed debt investors I have watched it for more than ten years.

The second session sheds light on global distressed asset and non-performing loan investments, providing insights into the strategies and opportunities available in this space. It involved discussions of different asset classes in this market segment, including real estate, corporate and consumer debt, secondary markets, and panelists sharing their experiences and analysis of investing in distressed and distressed loan assets in different geographies, including emerging markets and developed economies. It also covers the challenges and opportunities of investing in these markets, taking into account macroeconomic conditions, industry-specific trends, and the unique regulatory and legal frameworks governing these transactions.

Finoverse Arab Forum

The Finoverse Arabia Forum discussed the role of fintech companies and the application of technology in shaping the future of financial and banking institutions and maximizing their efficiency and profits. It also explores lessons learned from building and growing startups and shares best practices through several panel discussions addressing the intersection of FinTech, AI and Web3. This includes transforming business models and strategies across sectors, while addressing infrastructure gaps and regulatory challenges. It also reviews the benefits of investing in building a trusted Internet network across regions, and strategies for securing and attracting the best talent to drive Web3’s continued growth.

AIM Global 2023 is preceded by a series of professional interactive training sessions led by experienced industry experts from around the world. There will also be a series of seminars aimed at enriching the experience of participants and informing them of profitable investment opportunities.
