ABU DHABI: The Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) recently hosted a roundtable discussion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Turkey.
The Academy hosted a meeting to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, moderated by AGDA Deputy Director General Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri. Saeed Thani Hareb Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Turkey; Tugay Tunçer, Turkish Ambassador to the UAE; Dr. Ahmet Uysal, Director of Ankara Center for Middle East Studies (ORSAM), and Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, AGDA Fellow, were present.
Speakers highlighted the enduring diplomatic relationship between the UAE and Turkey spanning more than 50 years, while also highlighting 27 important agreements signed in the past 18 months, including the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The recently signed CEPA commitments will usher in substantial results, laying the groundwork for the creation of 125,000 jobs in the UAE and Turkish markets over the next decade.
Given the current positive outlook for bilateral relations between the two countries, the panelists reiterated the great potential for the development of UAE-Turkey relations in the coming years.
The conference was attended by diplomats, academics, international and domestic business leaders, as well as AGDA students and staff.
