The UAE participated in the signing ceremony of the Arab States Regional Framework Plan (2023-2028), as well as the launch of the Arab Drug Harm Prevention and Harm Reduction Program at the Arab Society Headquarters on Sunday at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.
The UAE was represented at the signing ceremony by Mariam Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative of the UAE to the Arab League.
The ceremony was attended by Ahmed Abu Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League; Maryam Bint Ali Bin Nasser Al Misned, Minister of Social Development and Family of Qatar and Chairperson of the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs; United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Gada Wali, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
In his speech at the signing ceremony, Abu Gheit expressed his pleasure to partner with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to achieve two major achievements, the first being the signing of the Regional Framework for the Arab States (2023-2028) into the Three phases, the second phase is the launch of the Arab program entitled “Effectively Addressing the Problem from a Social Perspective” to prevent and reduce the harm of drugs to Arab societies.
After the ceremony, Abu Gheit and Wali signed the Regional Framework for Arab States (2023-2028) between the Arab League countries and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
