However, Mao Zedong did not respond even after repeatedly asking the company to which the plane belonged.

The questions came after Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singer said the U.S. was still evaluating parts recovered from the balloon and taking timely precautions to limit the intelligence value it could gather.

Responding to a media question about whether the balloons could transmit intelligence back to China, she added that the United States has taken precautions to protect its own military installations from foreign intelligence gathering.

“So, in terms of the balloon itself, right now, the FBI is leading the charge and still evaluating the parts that we can recover from the balloon. As we mentioned earlier, when we first started tracking the balloon, we The balloon is known to be true, a Pentagon spokesman revealed: “It is capable of being steered and purposefully follows its orbit, but not into a specific spot where it is capable of hovering. ”

“But what we did do was take precautions to limit the value of intelligence it was able to gather, and, you know, again, we took steps to protect our own military installations from foreign intelligence collection,” Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singer said at a press conference.

A Pentagon spokesman further stated that because of the immediate steps the U.S. took at the time, “we were able to block the transmission of certain aspects of our website.”

Regarding the transmission back to China and what can be transmitted back, she said, “I don’t have any more information for you at this time. As of now, we are still assessing exactly what intelligence China is able to collect, but we do know that the steps we have taken have a significant impact on There was little added value to the information they were able to glean from satellites before.”
