JVC’s hidden gem glutinous rice expands its restaurant

The family-run Thai restaurant Sticky Rice will reopen on Thursday, September 16, for dine-in customers after months of takeout meals. This restaurant is very popular in the community, which is a feat that the kitchen relied on after the tragic death of Nuomi’s owner (affectionately called mother) earlier this year.

A fundraising campaign was launched to give customers the opportunity to book a cute 20 cm plush “Kew”, which is the restaurant’s mascot duck. The funds raised are enough to help the restaurant stand up again, stronger than ever.

Sticky Rice not only re-opened, but also expanded the space, and now provides more seats for customers. With the help of Kew, the modern venue is infused with life and color. If a customer misses buying a plush toy, they can buy it in the store.

The restaurant will receive guests when it reopens this Thursday, but payment is currently only made in cash. Guests can enjoy a selection of authentic Thai food freshly baked from the kitchen.

If you have not tasted the famous glutinous rice cooking, then you will be feasted. From the hospitable staff to the last bite of delicious fried rice, this experience will make you feel at home.

When announcing the news on Instagram, Sticky Rice’s team said: “This is the last project my mother has done for all of us. Her dreams were small at first, but as time passed, she found that there were not enough seats. Customers who squeeze in to eat her food will joke, “You should make a hole in the wall and expand.” She always laughs at the idea, but one day she surprised all of us, she really did Arrived and said, “Now everyone will have more places to sit down and enjoy themselves comfortably.””
