Prices of flights to India have fallen sharply, according to popular ticketing sites

Are you planning a trip to India this long weekend to celebrate Eid with your loved ones? If you’re worried about airfare, don’t worry, you can still go ahead with your plans, with flights starting from just Dh309 in the UAE.

Airfares to India have dropped significantly, according to popular ticketing websites. The fare for the same flight a month ago was double or triple the current price.

KT reader Fahim Amar regularly checks airfare prices and says a flight from Dubai to Mangalore on April 17 costs about Dh950. However, now on MakeMyTrip.com, the same flight costs around AED 386.

Likewise, Athar Hafizka, who booked a flight to Mangalore, regretted booking the flight in advance, paying almost three times the price (now the current price). “I believed that as the holidays approached, airfare prices would skyrocket. So, I booked early on March 2. But now I see that the price has been reduced by almost a third to my destination,” said Athar .

From April 17th to April 20th, the price of each destination on the direct flight ticket website.

However, tour operators believe prices on these dates may vary and may spike in the coming days.

“This is probably why people are confused about the Eid holiday announcement. We are thinking of April 19, when the holiday will start. Travel was restricted last year but people were willing to go to India.

Libin Varghese, director of sales at Rooh Travels and Tourism, said: “Most residents are getting holiday packages and some of them want to go home and celebrate Eid with their families. That may be one of the reasons for the drop in airfares.”

“Sometimes we get tickets to Mumbai for Dh280, which is a very small increase considering the high season,” Libin added.
