The following events are planned throughout the region over the next week:
• The Santander Performing Arts Center in Reading will present a tour of Fiddler on the Roof at 7.30pm on Thursday and 6pm on Tuesday and Wednesday 19 April. From Joseph Stein and Pulitzer Prize winners Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnik, Fiddler on the Roof is a moving story of father and daughter, husband and wife, life, love and laughter . This classic musical is filled with Broadway hits, including “To Life (L’Chaim!),” “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Sunrise, Sunset,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” and “Tradition.” The show won the 1965 Tony Award for Best Musical, in addition to eight other Tony Awards that year. “Bluey’s Big Play” is a live stage show based on the Emmy Award-winning animated preschool series “Bluey,” which airs on Disney Junior, Disney Channel and Disney+. Fans will see Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli like they’ve never seen them before as the Heelers kick off their first live theater show in the U.S. featuring puppets, live actors and iconic sets . • SALT Performing Arts, Chester Springs, presents “Big Fish” the musical Friday through April 30. Based on the acclaimed novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film adaptation directed by Tim Burton, “Big Fish” centers on traveling salesman Edward Bloom who lives a full life. Edward’s incredible, legendary story touched everyone around him – especially his beloved wife, Sandra. But their son Will is about to have a baby of his own, and he’s determined to find out the truth behind his father’s legend. • Friday night at 8pm Phoenixville Steel City Café & Brewery featuring special guest Amy Fairchild Cliff Hillis and Forward Thinkers Hillis is an award-winning singer-songwriter from the Philadelphia area whose music evokes the ’70s sunshine Bright pop. Hillis has collaborated with critically acclaimed songwriters including Rhett Miller, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Kelley Ryan and Dan Bern. Tracks from his latest album, “Be The Now,” have been playing on Triple A radio. • Uptown! West Chester’s Knauer Center for the Performing Arts presents The Weeklings performing The Beatles and more on Thursdays at 7:30pm and the Allman Brothers at Fillmore Live on Saturdays at 7:30pm Styx, Dave Mason, Bon Jovi With former members of Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes performing Beatles hits and other ’60s classics. • The Inner Peace Holistic Expo will be held at the Hamburg Field House on Saturdays from 10am-6pm and Sundays from 10am-5pm. • West Chester-based comedy group Better Than Bacon will perform Saturday night at the White Rabbit Theater at the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville at 7:30 pm. • Humane Pennsylvania’s Pop-up Pints for Pups dog and family-friendly beer festival will be held at Danielle Ruiz-Murphy Dog Park in Birdsboro on Sunday from 1-4 pm. Ticket holders will have the opportunity to sample over 40 beers, wines and liquors and choose from a full selection of local and regional breweries and distilleries. Corty Byron will provide music and the Smothered Sensations food truck will be on hand. Well-behaved puppies on leashes are welcome. • Mexican band Grupo Firme will host the ‘Hay Que Conectarla Tour’ at Reading’s Santander Arena on Sunday evening at 8pm. Founded in Tijuana, Mexico in 2014, Grupo Firme has seven members, all aged 22-29. They straddle banda and northern music genres, and it’s their fresh take on regional Mexican classics that helped put them on the map. • Presented by KU! On Wednesday, April 19, during Kutztown University’s Performing Artists Series, Tony Award-winning actress Laura Benanti performed a concert in Shafer Auditorium on campus. Benanti’s TV and film roles include “Gossip Girl,” “Young,” “Worthy,” and “Tick-Tick…Boom!” In 2019, she played Eliza Doolittle in Lincoln Center’s critically acclaimed My Fair Lady, Triumph Back on Broadway. Since making her Broadway debut at the age of 18 as Maria in “The Sound of Music” opposite Richard Chamberlain, Benanti has wowed audiences in numerous musicals and plays. • SoulJoel Comedy Club in Pottstown Sunnybrook will host Tony Woods on Friday at 8pm and Sydney Castillo’s ‘My Cup Is Full’ tour on Saturday at 7pm One of the best and most engaging comedians in the business one. When Dave Chappelle recently accepted the Mark Twain Award for Comedy, he was the first to name Woods in his speech. Comparing his influence to that of Charlie Parker and Dizzie Gillespie on Miles Davis, Chappelle said of Woods: “I try to play like you. You are me. • Keswick Theater in Glenside with Bruce-O-Rama on Friday at 8pm, Pink Floyd tribute band Floyd Nation on Saturday at 8pm, Napoleon Dynamite Live on Sunday at 7:30pm, Judy Collins and Madeleine Peyroux with Symphony The troupe will host a show beginning with a quiz and ending with a screening on Wednesday, April 19 at 8pm, led by Bruce-O-Rama, featuring Bruce Campbell as Ash from the “Evil Dead” horror series. Williams is best known for one of his films. Napoleon Dynamite Live opened with a conversation with the film’s three stars, Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez and Jon Gries, followed by a screening of the film. • Solar Federation will play Rush at the Kennett Flash in Kennett Square on Friday night at 8pm. Formed in 2014, the band spent a full year perfecting its initial tracklist and rehearsing what is often called the most complex song catalog in rock music. After just a few live performances, the band established themselves as one of the East Coast’s premier Rush tribute bands, winning awards for their accurate interpretation of material, meticulous attention to detail, and vocalist Julie Schreiber’s passionate interpretation of Rush dynamics.
