Dubai Ruler shares list of key milestones implemented by government on social media

Simplifying the way tourists enter the UAE; offering longer visit visas for tourists; long-term residency for selected professionals and expanding the Golden Visa scheme are some of the latest game-changing moves the UAE has made to attract more people from around the world One of the measures of the rules.

These key reforms come under the leadership of the UAE Cabinet under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. On Wednesday, he tweeted a list of key milestones the government had implemented, and he vowed the country would keep moving forward.

Below are some of the key reforms that make it easier for people to live in the UAE, visit the country and explore job opportunities in the long term without the need for a sponsor or host.

First introduced in 2020, the 10-year residence visa is designed to allow foreigners to live, work and study in the UAE without a local sponsor. It also has 100% ownership of its business. While ordinary expats must renew their residence visa every two to three years, golden visa holders can renew it for an additional ten years. Golden visas are granted to those who possess “high-value skills or work in key industries critical to economic growth”. Tens of thousands of expatriates have now been granted golden visas in recognition of their special status.

The regulation came into effect in October last year. It allows people to come to the UAE to explore job, investment and business opportunities without the need for a sponsor or host. Fresh graduates from top 500 universities in the world can apply for this visa. Applicants should have a minimum level of education of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

This visa allows one to easily enter the UAE to explore investment and business opportunities without the need for a host or sponsor. It only requires a deposit.

This is available through sponsorship from licensed UAE medical institutions. A certified medical report and a letter from the sponsoring institution are required. Medical insurance and a deposit are also required.

This visa is sponsored by an educational, training or research institution in the UAE.

This is launching in March 2021. This is a five-year multiple-entry visa that allows visitors to enter the UAE multiple times within a calendar year for a period of 90 days each, which can be extended for a further 90 days. The entire period of stay within one year shall not exceed 180 days. Multiple entry visas do not require a sponsor, but applicants should demonstrate a bank balance of $4,000 six months prior to application.

One can apply to visit relatives or friends living in the UAE after providing documents proving the relationship and reasons behind the visit. No sponsor required; only deposit.

The UAE issues two types of transit visas: one is free for 48 hours and the other is Dh50 for 96 hours. This visa is issued by Emirates Airline and is non-extendable.

This visa is for residents of GCC countries and their family members. GCC residency must be valid for at least three months from the date of arrival, and passports for GCC residents must be valid for at least three months.

This is the best option for project or probationary temps. A person applying for this visa should provide a temporary work contract, a medical examination and an agreement with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, if the sponsor complies with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, or if the person is a domestic worker.

This entry clearance is available for holders of diplomatic, special and United Nations passports. It can be issued by UAE Embassies and Consulates abroad.
