More than 35 organizations and entities are working together to realize the humanitarian vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai – Mohammed bin Rashid · Al Maktoum Director Sara Al Nuaimi said Global Initiatives.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Sara said the situation changed after the restrictions imposed by the Covid pandemic were lifted. “On the operational side, things started to pick up speed,” she said. “All 35 organisations, each with different mandates and different scopes of work, are committed to realizing His Highness’ vision.”
A recent MBRGI report revealed that the organization spent AED1.4 billion in 2022, positively impacting the lives of 102 million people in 100 countries around the world.
Here are some affected areas:
“Billion Meals”
A total of 30.2 million people have benefited from MBRGI’s aid and relief initiatives and projects. A number of agencies have implemented food aid campaigns, including the 1 Billion Meals initiative starting in Ramadan 2022.
water purification plan
As part of MBRGI’s humanitarian pillar, clean water projects operate around the world, helping to change the lives of millions of people. AED 910 million was spent on this pillar to drive winter clothing support campaigns and school building projects, among other things.
digital school
The foundation aims to build innovative e-learning platforms to keep pace with modern educational curricula and global technological developments. Total expenditure on knowledge and education projects amounted to AED 213 million.
religious school
Established in seven countries as part of the MBRGI initiative, Madrasa Educational Centers are fully equipped to serve communities facing economic and social challenges. The projects, aimed at disseminating education and knowledge, benefited a record number of 55.1 million people.
knowledge economy
Aiming to create a knowledge-based economy, MBRGI has launched Concept Plus – a new business incubator for digital technology SMEs. Additionally, a new edition of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Water Prize was launched to encourage research institutions to develop new solutions to the challenge of clean water scarcity.
noor dubai
Noor Dubai continues its prevention and education activities aimed at eradicating the causes of blindness and visual impairment in impoverished communities. MBRGI costs AED 42.5 million in 2022, benefitting 9.4 million people.
Mobile Eye Clinic
A national outreach program helps treat UAE residents with limited means and those with serious eye conditions, and serves patients across the country through mobile eye clinics.
football academy
In 2020, MBRGI signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Real Madrid Foundation to establish and manage 10 non-profit football academies in Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Uzbekistan. It is continuing to train and develop 4,500 aspiring young players.
