[ad_1]

Charleston, WV — GoMart Ballpark, home to the Charleston Dirty Birds, is expected to be packed this weekend when the team plays the Savannah Bananas.

The Bananas, much like the Harlem Globetrotters, are an entertaining baseball team, and Dirty Birds owner and CEO Andy Shea said they’ll draw a lot of attention to Friday and Saturday’s doubles games. laughter.

“Of course, it’s going to be non-stop smiling and laughing and pure entertainment, and some legit, really cool, great baseball,” Shae said. “The entertainment they do is second to none.”

Shea said the Bananas also know how to take it seriously when it comes to competition.

“These guys are real, legitimate athletes who are really good at baseball,” he said on MetroNews’ “Hotline” with Dave Weekley on Wednesday.

Games start at 7pm on Friday and Saturday nights.

Shea said the team has a new turf field at the GoMart Ballpark, which has benefited the players and the city of Charleston.

“It’s been absolutely amazing. It’s been a really complete and complete game changer for us, literally and figuratively. The amount of programming we’ve been able to do is amazing. We’ve done it. We’ve been in A lot of college and high school games are held here,” he said.

Earlier this month, more than 5,000 fans attended a WVU-Marshall Games At GoMart Ballpark, it was just a few hundred people away from the largest crowd the stadium has ever seen.

Tickets for that game went cashless for the first time. Shea said it worked out well, but he thinks the game against the Bananas this weekend will go more smoothly because more fans plan ahead to attend the game.

“The difficulty with that game (WVU-Marshall) was that 60 percent of the 5,000 people bought tickets on the day of the game. The beauty of the Bananas was that it sold out for months,” he said.

After this weekend’s games, the Dirty Birds will officially start their season with a road game against the Staten Island Ferry Eagles on April 28. The first home game is scheduled for May 9.
