New Delhi [India]April 25 (ANI): United Kingdom (UK)-based leading business finance platform Tide launched an exchange program in India on Tuesday aimed at globalizing entrepreneurship which will help grow the UK’s presence in India Business and Indian business in the UK.

On the exchange scheme, Alex Ellis, the British High Commissioner to India, said it would boost businesses and create jobs.

“Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed the enormous opportunities that closer trade and investment ties bring to businesses and consumers in the UK and India. Our investment relationship already supports nearly half a million jobs in each other’s economies .Building direct links between growing economies and businesses from both countries will take us a long way. I congratulate Tide for adding color to the India-UK success story,” said Ellis.

Oliver Prill, CEO of Further Tide, praised India and the Indian market, emphasizing: “We are very passionate about the Indian market, Tide is committed to supporting small businesses and the MSME exchange program is a huge step in that direction. We know Small Businesses: Business owners in India and the UK have achieved ambitions including exporting goods and services between the two countries, which have long historical links. The MEP will provide an exchange of ideas and expertise for small business owners in both countries can be translated into concrete action”

The MSME Exchange Program is an industry-first program for any fintech company working in the MSME ecosystem in India. The MEP will enable small entrepreneurs to expand and improve their business knowledge and ultimately grow their business.

The MEP targets new businesses and new digital micro-entrepreneurs in both countries. Tide aims to unlock opportunities for millions of existing and up-and-coming entrepreneurs, including those who may want to export to or from India and the UK.

Asked for an update on the finalization of the free trade agreement (FTA), Anna Shotbolt, the deputy trade commissioner for investment in South Asia, said, “Negotiations are ongoing in London…the two prime ministers spoke a few weeks ago and we have to Emphasize our commitment to free trade agreements,” she said.

On February 10, 2023, the UK and India concluded the seventh round of negotiations on the India-UK Free Trade Agreement.

In 43 separate sessions, technical discussions took place in 11 policy areas. They include detailed discussions of draft treaty texts for these policy areas.

An eighth round of negotiations will take place later this spring. (Arnie)
