I choose to talk about this topic because I have witnessed a considerable change in the tolerance towards each other among members of the global community. Globalization, as we know it, is not perfect. It has its pros and cons. But unfortunately, the world is facing an increase in cases of discrimination due to the rise of nationalism that threatens globalization. This brings about discrimination based on race, religion or nationality and continues to be a major problem that many countries must address.

Social unrest, conflict and instability are growing, they are spreading like viruses, and the further we distance ourselves from them, the more attractive they seem to be. However, the UAE has chosen to take advantage of globalization while addressing issues that stem from and are therefore seen as a place of tolerance and coexistence. I will quote this quote from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan: “The UAE is a unique model that unites people through an approach based on openness, tolerance and coexistence.”

This article will discuss the UAE model for addressing intolerance, the elephant in the room. I hope the countries facing it will come forward and restore tolerance in the community by applying the UAE model. As we all know, this country is home to more than 200 ethnic groups, and all residents live in harmony. It is an inclusive and inclusive society. The Government has enacted a law to combat discrimination and hatred while laying the legislative foundations to protect and promote an environment of social coexistence and acceptance.

The Government also appointed a Minister of State for Tolerance in 2016 and declared 2019 the Year of Tolerance. Since then, the country has implemented several initiatives to promote tolerance and coexistence. In addition, it hosted an interreligious dialogue in February this year that brought together religious leaders and scholars from around the world to discuss and demonstrate this model of tolerance. In addition, the International Academy of Tolerance Education was established to promote the twin virtues of peace and tolerance worldwide.

The 2020 Abraham Accords and the Abraham Family House in Abu Dhabi are also part of the UAE model of tolerance. The agreement is a series of agreements aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Middle East. They represent an important step forward in promoting interfaith dialogue and understanding among different religions and cultures. Additionally, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Abu Dhabi showcased the country’s commitment to building a more inclusive and peaceful society. When completed, the Hindu temple will be one of the largest in the world outside of India.

By promoting interfaith dialogue and understanding and fostering a culture of tolerance and respect for all, the UAE is building a more inclusive, equitable and peaceful world. Shouldn’t other countries learn from the UAE’s experience and take similar steps to promote tolerance, reduce discrimination and build a better future for all? I’ll leave the answer to the readers of this post. – abdulla@khaleejtimes.com
