UAE, US explore investment opportunities to boost cleantech

AUSTIN: A delegation of senior UAE officials visited the US state of Texas to find new bilateral investment and partnership opportunities for private companies.

While in Texas, Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi held talks with Austin Mayor Kirk Watson, where he promoted the UAE’s streamlined business registration process, skilled workforce and world-class infrastructure to Attract more inbound investment and trade from the country. Additionally, Al Zeyoudi participated in an Austin Chamber of Commerce roundtable where his delegation joined several senior state officials to explore new avenues to boost bilateral trade, especially in the IT, auto parts and machinery verticals.

He has also held multiple one-on-one meetings with leading Austin-based startups that are deploying technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and quantum computing to advance the real estate, emergency response, logistics, utilities, and media industries development of. During the meeting, Al Zeyoudi highlighted the UAE’s unique innovation ecosystem and highlighted the market entry incentives offered by the NextGenFDI program, such as fast-track registration and licensing, batch visa issuance, and ready access to banking facilities and real estate.

The Texas trip concluded with a field trip to Stealth Power, a provider of fleet electrification and off-grid solutions that reduce the carbon footprint of utility, emergency and military fleet vehicles.

“The United States is a long-term trade and investment partner of the UAE and an important ally in the development of alternative energy sources,” Al Zeyoudi said. “In November 2022, we signed the Accelerated Clean Energy Partnership, which will mobilize $100 billion to develop 100 gigawatts of clean energy by 2035, and we remain committed to finding new ways to work together to meet our net Zero commitment.”

He added: “It is very encouraging to see the United States demonstrating innovation in many areas, from low-carbon transport and hospitality to smart cities, and we are eager to pursue partnerships that will advance their development,” he added.
