Entertainment in full bloom in May | The Peninsula Daily

In addition to the first weekend of the Sequim Irrigation Festival, plant sales and this weekend’s Sequim and Port Townsend Art Walk are a few other entertainment options on the North Olympic Peninsula.

• “Calendar Girl”, Written by Tim Firth, directed by Ellen Butchart, at the Olympic Theater Arts Center on May 14, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. point staged.

Tickets for theater performances are $20 for adults and $15 for students at 414 N. Sequim Ave.

The 14-member cast features a mix of newcomers and veterans of the OTA stage, and reps say it’s “about coming of age at any age”.

• “One person, two managers” The three-week run begins tonight at 7:30 at Port Angeles Community Players, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Shows continue Saturday at 7:30pm, Sunday at 2pm and Tuesday at 7:30pm, with additional performances on Friday, Saturday and Tuesday at 7:30pm, and Sunday matinee at 2pm until May 23rd. Tickets are $18, $9 for adults and $9 for students. Tickets for Tuesday’s show are $9.

• “Art Wave!” Created by students in grades K-12 of the Port Townsend School District, it will be featured in business windows in Uptown and Downtown throughout the month of May.

Funds raised will help support the various offerings offered by PT Artscape, including the teaching artist programs at Salish Shores Primary School, Blue Heron Secondary School and Port Townsend High School, as well as the professional development of teaching artists and classroom teachers.

• Bazrogowski Will be performing at the Old Distillery Hotel, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Hadlock Port today from 5pm to 7pm. No service charge.

• Delta rays Playing today from 5pm to 8pm at Port Townsend Brewing Company’s beer garden at 330 10th Street in Port Townsend. No service charge.

• first friday lectures Ivy Anderson and Devon Angus will discuss the history of sex work and their book, ‘Alice: Memoirs of a Barbary Coast Prostitute’ today at 7pm.

The lecture, sponsored by the Jefferson County Historical Society, will be held at the Northwest Maritime Center at 431 Water St.

The suggested contribution to the program is $10.

Attendance is limited to 75 people.

• Contra dance Tonight at 7:30 with Sequim’s First Friday Artwalk.

The dance will be held in the Upper Room Hall at 138 W. Washington St., Sequim.

Music will be provided by Joey Gish and Wriggling Fish, with Gish on fiddle and David Rivers on acoustic guitar, as will Will Jevne.

Beginner dance lessons will be offered at 7pm Dance starts at 7:30pm

Admission is by donation; wearing a mask is optional.

• Port Angeles Symphony Season Finale It will be held Saturday night at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center at 304 E. Park Ave at 7:30 pm.

Conductor and Music Director Jonathan Pasternack will give a short pre-concert talk at 6:30 pm. The public is also invited to attend a symphony rehearsal Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Performing Arts Center.

In its final all-orchestral concert for its 90th anniversary, cellist Julian Schwarz, originally from Seattle on his debut with the Port Angeles Symphony, will be guest soloist. Only 18 years old.

• get lost in the hut, The celebration at Naval Elks Lodge 353, 131 East First Street, Port Angeles, was sold out at 7 p.m. Saturday, organizers said.

Naval Elks Lodge was chartered in 1896 and the building was built in 1927.

• Martin Souza The show will be at the Spirits Bar and Grill, The Old Distillery Hotel, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Hadlock Port, Saturday from 5pm to 7pm. No service charge.

• Beaxo Spindle Association Meet at the Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fraternity, 1033 Barr Road, Port Angeles, Saturday at 10am.

The theme of the guild meeting is “Spinning the Perfect Coil”.

• Habitat for Humanity East Jefferson County There will be open houses on Saturday at Landes North, Landes and 18th streets from noon to 4pm.

Attendees are encouraged to carpool and park at Haines Street Park and Ride, 440 12th St.

Attendees will be able to see what a Habitat home looks like inside and out, and meet volunteers, staff, and future homeowners.

• Salish Sea Early Music Festival “A Bach Cantata: Ich Habe Enough” will be presented Sunday at 2pm.

The baroque concert is held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 1020 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend.

This week’s performers include Mike Albrecht, soprano; Hans-Jürgen Schnoor, harpsichord; and Jeffrey Cohan, baroque flute.

Albrecht and Schnoor are from Lübeck, Germany.

Suggested donation is $20-25 per person; admission is free for youth 18 and under.

• “Olympia Oyster Restoration in Port Kilisut”, Hosted by the Friends of Fort Flagler, it will take place Sunday at 11am.

The program will first be demonstrated at Fort Flagler Hospital, 10541 Flagler Road.

Following the lecture, attendees will meet at Mystic Cove State Park for a guided beach walk; parking at Mystic Cove requires a Discovery Pass.

• “Recycling and Use of Plastics”, Hosted by the Climate Action Team of the Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and will be held on Sunday at 12:30 noon.

The free public forum is part of a monthly series in Fraternity Hall, 1033 N. Barr Road.

Sunday’s forum will discuss recycling efforts in the peninsula and the use of alternatives to plastic, especially single-use plastic.

Presentations are expected to last 30 to 45 minutes, including time for questions.
